Flax seeds — also known as common flax or linseeds — are small oil seeds that originated in the Middle East thousands of years ago.Flax seeds have been linked to health benefits, such as improved digestion and a reduced risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.
These little seeds are packed with omega-3s, fiber, protein, and more.
A two tablespoon portion of flaxseeds contains 6 grams of fiber (about a quarter of the recommended amount), 4-5 grams of plant protein, and 10% to 20% of the daily target for several nutrients, including magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, copper, and thiamin.
