Oak bark

Quercus Alba, Astringent, anti-inflammatory, anti-septic.

Traditional Uses: Can be used whenever an effective astringent is called for, such as with diarrhea and dysentery. Decoction can be used as a gargle for tonsillitis, laryngitis as well as pharyngitis. May also be applied as an enema to assist in the treatment of hemorrhoids. May be helpful as a douche for leucorrhea. For skin infections, bruises, rashes.

Directions to use: Decoction: Put 1 teaspoon of bark in 1 cup of cold water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10-15min. Strain and drink three times per day.

Safety precautions: Do not use for constipation. Do not use if pregnant or lactating. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
